Canine Good Citizen class (sold out)

Our Canine Good Citizen classes are designed to empower you and your dog with the skills and confidence needed to be exemplary companions in any setting.

While not every team will achieve certification, successful participants will earn a prestigious Canine Good Citizen certification from the American Kennel Club, a Pickles Playland certificate, a mini trophy, and for dogs 35 pounds or less a package of 5 free daycare visits.

As with every kind of event at Pickles Playland we are not able to accept people under 21yrs old in our building. This is a state law, not our rule.

  • Cost: $250 per dog

  • Open to: Puppies 9 months or older and adult dogs of all ages

  • Awards: American Kennel Club’s C.G.C. certificate, Pickles Playland certificate, mini trophy, 5 free daycare visit package at Pickles Playland (for dogs 35lbs or less), & an amazingly well behaved dog.

  • How to register: Email PicklesPlayland@gmail.com. You will need an account with Pickles Playland. https://www.picklesplayland.dog/

Skills Covered:

  • Greeting friendly strangers

  • Appearance and grooming

  • A list of questions for the Q&A session at the end of each class

  • A way to take note if you’d like

The fine print:

  1. Your dog must know how to sit, lay down, & stay for a short period of time in order to take this class. Your dog does not have to be a master of these skills, but they do need to be able to perform them already. Aggressive behavior towards a person or other dog will disqualify your dog from passing the CGC portion of the class.

  2. If your dog does not pass you’re welcome to re-take the test at no additional cost, during a future class series. Just tell us that you’re coming so we can plan accordingly. You can also re-take the test if your dog does pass (this can be fun as a refresher for you and your dog).

  3. Puppies and dogs must have at least one bordetella, one distemper, and one rabies vaccine before registering for class.

  4. These classes are for people 21yrs+ only (it’s a state law, not ours). Please register in the client portal (see client portal button on this website) to reserve your dog’s spot in class.

  5. Additional private sessions available upon request at $200/session. These can take place in your home, in public, or at one of the Pickles Playland locations.

  6. If you send different people to classes please ensure they know and have the skills to follow up with the next steps of training for the class. This will help them and your dog become more comfortable. You’re welcome to bring dog sitters, friends, and family members at no additional charge.

  7. Please refrain from recording our classes. The information in these classes is not widely distributed on social media and/or recorded because we have chosen not to. If you have questions or want to record a specific training technique for you and your dog we can schedule a private session to do so.

  8. Cancelation policy: We only accept 6 dogs per class. Reservations are non-refundable for any reason. If you miss a class you can choose to schedule a private training session if you’d like, at the standard rate of $200 per private session.

Outdoor Bootcamp (Leisure Leash)

Outdoor Bootcamp (Leisure Leash)

Mija’s a sassy talkative girl, but also was mid cake-eating in this photo!

Are you and your dog ready to step up your training? Us too! This series of classes is designed to provide you and your dog with the skills to be in public calmly, allowing you to live the best life possible with your dog!

You’ll receive a certificate if you come to all of the bootcamp classes, but it is not required.

All classes are 12-6:30pm. You can come to as many or as few classes as you want! These are considered a series, to provide you with optimal help, but it is not required.

Cost: $40 per class.

Dogs these classes are ideal for: Puppies and adult dogs, less ideal for fragile senior dogs. Any skill and training level, our advice is tailored to each individual dog/human. All sizes and breeds welcome.

Humans: 18yrs+ please.

Class 1: Leisure Leash

Leash manners are not only about showing off the great relationship you have with your dog but also about keeping your dog safe as you pass unknown dogs and the general public. Let’s work together in the real-world to get your dog’s training on track.

When: Monday Aug 4th 6:30pm. Thursday Aug 14th 12pm.

Where: Kirkland cross corridor trail. Lakeview Elementary School, 10400 NE 68th St, Kirkland, WA 98033

Parking: There is an access point to the trail and free parking. We will meet in the teacher parking lot, where the trail access is.

Bring: Your dog, a non-retractable leash ideally 6ft or less, easy to walk in shoes with tread (like tennis shoes, not sandals), water & a bowl for your dog, your dog’s favorite treats if you choose to use them for training.

Class 2: Recall Rover

Recall is one of the most important behaviors to teach your dog. It helps to keep you and them safe in unexpected situations. Let’s work together to help build you and your dog’s skills out in the real-world.

When: Wednesday Aug 6th 4:30pm. Monday Aug 18th 6:30pm.

Where: Marymoor Park (not the dog park). We will meet at parking lot K (the first one on your left when you enter the park from West Lake Sammamish Parkway). 6046 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE, Redmond, WA 98052.

Parking: Large parking lot. Parking is $1 unless you have an annual pass.

Bring: Your dog, a 10ft-15ft non-retractable leash if you have one (I have one for you to use if needed), your dog’s favorite treats.

Class 3: Calm Canines

We’ll be slowly moving through the park and surrounding areas as we teach our dogs coping skills, calm acceptance, and to control reactivity towards everything in the park (dogs, adults, children, birds, joggers, bikes, etc).

When: Monday Aug 11th 6:30pm. Wednesday Aug 20th 12pm, this is during the farmer’s market so expect to need to look for parking. We’re intentionally hosting this during the market to optimize the training opportunities.

Where: Marina Park Public Beach, 25 Lakeshore Plaza, Kirkland, WA 98033. We will meet at the ‘open air pavilion’ along the water.

Parking: Parking is paid in the lot at the beach but free in the surrounding neighborhood.

Bring: Your dog, a blanket/mat/or bed, a non-retractable leash less than 10ft long, water & a bowl for your dog, a snack if you feel brave enough to picnic, your dog’s favorite treats if you choose to use them for training.

Class 4: Pups in the Pines

Take an easier trail walk with us as we explore the woods and learn trail etiquette. This is the trillium trail, 1.7 miles long with a small incline at the beginning and flat shaded trails through most of the trail.

When: Tuesday Aug 19th at 6:30pm. Wednesday Aug 13th 12pm.

Where: Bridle Trails State Park, 5300 116th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98033. We’ll be on a trail with shade for approx 95% of the time.

Parking: There is a parking lot. You will either need to pay for a day pass or an annual Discover Pass online in advance.

Bring: Your dog, easy to walk in shoes with tread (like tennis shoes, not sandals), a non-retractable leash less than 10ft long, water & a bowl for your dog, your dog’s favorite treats if you choose to use them for training.

Nosework by Angela

Loki and Angela are a very accomplished nosework team, as you can see.

If a floofy little guy like Loki can win all of these awards your dog can too! This class is for people who want to build a stronger bond with their dog. You can come even if you’re not interested in joining nosework competitions!

This class is not taught by At Your Feet Dog Training, it is taught by a specialty nosework trainer (Angela) at Pickles Playland in Redmond.

I took this class with my dog Mija, during the last set of classes. This round I’ll be joining you as a student, with my dog Duckie!

RESERVATION REQUIRED: You will need to be registered with and pay via Pickles Playland. https://www.picklesplayland.dog/

  • Duration: 5 weekly sessions, with an optional 6th week for $50 (I recommend adding this class because it’s a lot of fun!). 1 hour per class.

  • Cost: $265 per dog
